Change to Website Accessibility Standard and Website Accessibility Statement.
Background
In February 2023, agencies were instructed to post a website accessibility statement referencing WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the City’s standard and were provided with a template.
The City is in the process of adopting WCAG 2.2 Level AA with the exceptions set forth in 28 CFR § 35.201 (“the DOJ exceptions”) as the standard for its websites pursuant to Local Law 26 of 2016 (codified in Ad. Code § 23-802).
Agency Digital Inclusion Officers (DIOs) have been trained on WCAG 2.2 Level AA since the inception of the DIO program in September 2024 and recently received training on the DOJ exceptions.
